On March 23rd, the grand halls of the Vienna City Hall were transformed into a hub of resistance, reimagining, and community. The Wien gegen Rassismus (Vienna against Racism) Conference provided a vital platform for the city to address its evolving anti-racism agenda, and the IDEAL project was right in the heart of the action.

While the main stage hosted heavy-hitting discussions featuring policymakers, practitioners, and civil society leaders, our team took a more grassroots approach. We set up an info table that quickly evolved from a simple display into a dynamic space for exchange, curiosity, and genuine connection.

Our focus was on the human element of the conference. While the policy debates provided the framework, our table provided the interactive reality. Through many open and inspiring conversations, we were able to:

  • Share the milestones of the IDEAL project, showing how local initiatives can have a global impact.

  • Listen to the own strategies of the attendees for fostering inclusivity in their respective fields.

  • Establish new partnerships that will continue to enrich and strengthen the IDEAL network.

By bridging the gap between high-level policy and direct action, IDEAL is helping to build a more resilient anti-racism infrastructure in Vienna.
