No Citizen Left Behind: Rethinking Participation Across Borders

Deliberation and political participation are fundamental rights that are out of reach for many vulnerable or marginalised groups. Language barriers, cultural divides, and lack of access to inclusive platforms often silence voices that most need to be heard.

As part of the EURegionsWeek Close to You, an online session entitled “Voices without borders: Empowering citizens to shape tomorrow”, will tackle the most urgent challenges that Europe is facing- every citizen, regardless of background, language, or location, has the right and the means to participate in shaping their community. This online workshop will be organised by the IDEAL and MultiPoD projects.

In these two projects, from Athens to Vienna, Lisbon to Brussels, citizens are being invited to validate innovative solutions designed to break down barriers to engagement. The projects will showcase how cutting-edge technologies like AI can support multilingual, inclusive participation, helping communities overcome the limitations of traditional civic platforms.
